Why does being Vegan/Vegetarian seem to offend people?
I find it incredible that choosing not to contribute to the unnecessary suffering and killing of animals can offend so many people.
Referring to the responses I got to my last question, “Where can I get weight gain supplements suitable for ***vegans***?”, none of those people actually answered my question. Instead it seems they wanted to voice their uneducated opinions on the effects of a vegan diet whilst anyone with a brain can do a simple search for ‘vegan bodybuilding’ on google and see that it is in fact possible to become big and strong (and perfectly healthy) on a vegan diet.
If you don’t agree with the concept of veganism or vegetarianism and have nothing useful to offer then just DON’T ANSWER THE QUESTION.
What I find incredible is that some vegetarians and vegans focus on their diet to assume that it’s what people hate about them. They seem to ignore that perhaps it’s their personalities in general that people find obnoxious or distasteful.
Just look at your question that you specified: “..anyone with a brain can do a simple search for ‘vegan bodybuilding’ on google …” So why didn’t you search on Google? Does that mean you are not one of those :anyone with a brain”? Yet you call others “ignorant”? You managed to rant, preach and insult other people in one paragraph and you ask why they would, at the very least, dislike you?
I post here because I have a vegetarian “friendly” restaurant” and can get (and share) information on the various aspects of the lifestyle. I am also a crop farmer, a parent and have experience in business, nutrition and other social/ecological programs. I can get and share information about those. Whether they agree with my answers or not is not my problem. Your question does not offer much help either in terms of giving helpful information except maybe to reinforce some of the negative stereotypes many people have about vegetarians in general.
I checked your question and some posters gave you honest answers. Except they were what you did not want to hear. They tried to help you, you did not want their help. Don;t blame them, blame yourself. Noticed too that not too many vegans answered. Maybe they were also thinkinjg “why doesn’t he just keep googling it? Anyone with a brain can do that!!”
